Sony z3 compact xperia back and home button not working

I am using z3 for almost a year and dint have any issues. Since last two updates i am facing two problems.

1. The drop down notification menu does not displays properly when slided over from top to bottom

2. Back and home button works once in a blue moon. Previously they were working great. Now i will have to try for more than 25 times to make that happen or restart the device.

Please let me know if this is a software issue caused by the latest software release or is there a way to bring back the old version of software. Eventually i need a working software and not this piece of ugly software quality.

Please respond when this issue will be resolved.

Are you kidding me Sony? What kind of joke is this? Last night my Z3C started the same issue describes in this topic. Back, home and recent apps buttons are not working anymore, dead. I tried the factory reset and still same issue.... I am sooooo disappointed with your company. I'm going Samsung after I manage to get rid of the Xperia.... Goodbye Sony.

My notification bar stopped responding two months ago and my home and back buttons stopped responding yesterday. Glove mode helps but it's draining the battery really fast. Can the repair centre fix this problem?

Dear All,

All those having this problem should back-up their data and expect a total failure of the touch screen.  It is a chronic and progressive system failure that makes the phone unusable after some time.

If someone wants to monitor the progress of this failure, then run the diagnostic tool.  One will notice large sections of insensitive areas of the touch screen.

I had this problem for a while and after sometime, I could not even login my password to start my phone. This is because a large swath of the screen is unresponsive.

Sony is a big SPORT!

Same problem, unfortunately. I wonder if this forms a good basis for a class action suit.

In the interim, I'm using the Swipe function in All in One Gestures (Play Store). Muscle memory associated with the soft keys makes swiping from just above the 3 positions of the soft keys a bit less painful. If the problem is progressive and degenerative, I wonder how long this would work.

Looking at the Samsung S7...

I'm using the Assistive Touch app from Play Store to replace the home, back and recent app buttons. So far so good. I'm hoping that the touch screen damage doesn't progress too fast since I'm waiting for that small Iphone.

4 months for me since the first signs, and it's nearly unusable.

I lost all the keyboard, 1-1,5cm from the top, and now the center of the screen start to be unresponsive.
I can not enter my pin code properly because 5,7,8,9,0 doesn't tap now.

I'll receive my new screen this week and will make the replacement by myself,

hoping that the new one work more than 10 months.

If other parts of your screen is still working, you can use apps like Assistive Touch to access the back & home buttons and to pull down the notification menu. I don't feel like sending my phone for repair since this is my only phone.

The problem can be hairline crack (usually can not be seen). It is the digitizer that breaks, not display nor glass. If you have warranty, use it; if not, backup and change the digitizer (+display).

The causes: drops, thermal swelling of internal components, etc.
