Sony z3 compact xperia back and home button not working

I am using z3 for almost a year and dint have any issues. Since last two updates i am facing two problems.

1. The drop down notification menu does not displays properly when slided over from top to bottom

2. Back and home button works once in a blue moon. Previously they were working great. Now i will have to try for more than 25 times to make that happen or restart the device.

Please let me know if this is a software issue caused by the latest software release or is there a way to bring back the old version of software. Eventually i need a working software and not this piece of ugly software quality.

Please respond when this issue will be resolved.

The same problem. The same annoyance.

I did the same of the people here, glove mode and others, and I´m looking for the issue with the definitely fix for this problem.

Today my Sony Z3 was updated to 6.0 Marshmallow, and it cannot be resolved.

It´s important to note that when you turn on the phone, you can use others icons in the exactly position of the problems, like the voice assist, unblock and icon to use the camera. All in the same position of the Touch Screen. So, this problem cannot be hardware and there is something occuring with the software.

Then, it seems that the problem is too easy to be fix, for someone who knows about software Android and graphics in applications.

My wife's phone had the whole right hand side of the screen become unresponsive (on firmware 23.4.A.1.200). Currently still trying to get a working replacement (since the first replacement they provided experienced the random shut down issue - /t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/Sudden-Death-of-Sony-xperia-Z3-Compact/m-p/1120710#M21013 )

My phone - still on firmware 23.4.A.1.200 - has yet to experience any issue with the touchscreen but I fear it won't be long until it rears its ugly head.

For those who experienced problems after firmware upgrade, etc - could you try downgrading your firmware to 23.4.A.1.200 to see if it works for you?

1. First - do you have the D5833 or D5803 model?

2. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66275951&postcount=2028 and download the relevant for your model phone corresponding with firmware 23.4.A.1.200

3. Following the steps here: http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/17/guide-to-installing-xperia-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashto... (not including the step to download the firmware using Xperifirm) downgrade the firmware on your phone (probably best to backup then reset your phone to factory default before you do so).

4. Test to see if the there is still an issue without doing anything beyond the basic inital setup of the phone (just click through it - don't set up any accounts or anything).

I just want to know if those who are experiencing issue no longer experience them with firmware 23.4.A.1.200.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but the same thing just happened to my Xperia Z3 compact. I got an update this morning to Marshmallow and the phone bricked. As other people said, the home and back buttons don't work, the factory reset didn't get rid of Marshmallow either but... Surprise, surprise, keeping a finger on the side of the screen where the camera button is seems to make the home and back button working. Which is as funny as terribly annoying, given this was Sony's flagship and now it's completely unusable. So, I kindly ask for a solution, thanks. Sabrina

Just changed my screen, it's a digitizer problem.

At first, it seems like a software issue but you'll loose screen area in 3-4 months until you could not tap your pin code anymore and the phone is no more usable.

I hope my new screen will work for more than 10 months...

It's a good phone, but this digitizer problem is really annoying.

It is also possible there is a digitiser issue ( for info about what a digitiser is read this http://www.ebay.com.au/gds/WHAT-IS-A-DIGITIZER-or-LCD-DIGITIZER-/10000000177468630/g.html).

Still, if you only noticed an issue after a firmware update it can't hurt to try rolling back the firmware to see if the problem goes away when you do.

The defect is progressing. Now the top 1cm of the screen is unusable, which makes it hard to use google and instagram search functions 😞 @Maranui how much did it cost to get the digitizer problem repaired?

I've bought my lcd+digitizer here and made the replacement by myself.

Now that screen is ok, camera won't focus anymore after marshmallow update... grrr!
