wow.. I'm with you guys... this is really really getting more and more frustrating..
just a few weeks ago, my notification drawer suddenly was hard to pull out.. and now, also suddenly, my digital home button, recent apps button and back button are not responding.. using the glove mode does help a bit, but still, it's not a normal gesture..
I was a very proud owner of Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and found the device is awesome before this terrible condition started showing up.. what is sad about it is that I haven't found any single direct solution or even explanation that actually works from Sony..
I'm in Jakarta, Indonesia.. and I don't think the local service center also have the right answer regarding this problem.. my friend went there to repair his Z3, yet the service center seem confused and only gave him a new one and that's it..
so please, find a perfect solution right away for all the customers that trusted you and certainly have been giving you a lot of money all this time..
cheers
I gave the comprehensive reply #65. Since that time i have unlocked my bootloader and wiped my phone completely so that it has nothing on it except the basic pre-operating system software. Even at this point there were still touch screen issues. I proceeded to root the phone and install a custom rom. this didn't work. I have devoted countless hours to fixing this issue. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!! The phone is only good for a last resort backup... or as a coffee coaster. there is no solution. believe me i've looked and done everything i can. Sorry for the bad news.

Same issues happened to me.
Last week, the status bar lost its touch responsiveness and then yesterday the home and back button stopped working too.
Multitask button seems ok.
I have never dropped my phone, always put it in a case and have rhinoshield cover for front and back.
With the sketch app, i see that the top and bottom band of the screen lost the touch function.
Maybe the touch screen is programmed to die (planned obsolescence) ... or a recent update or app powered a wrong module and damaged the touch screen ...
I tried rebooting, safe mode, repair with pcc. That didn't work.
( Maranui, je suis sur tahiti aussi, apparement point service mobile répare mais le prix est pas donné ... environ 20 000 fr avec presqu'un mois de délai et pas d'assurance que le problème revienne après. Autant les gardé pour un tél. neuf)
My phone developed the same problem after 15 months of usage. It has gone out of warranty. I nevertheless brought it to the Sony Service Centre and paid about US$20 for a post-warranty inspection. The only solution provided by Sony is to replace the defective touch screen and that would mean I have to pay an extra US$150 to Sony (that is almost 1/3 of the price that I paid for the phone when I bought it initially)!!! This is not fair!!!
Does someone make it repaired and does it last or die about ten months after again?
I will order a new screen and will repair my phone by myself.
I will let you know.
getting more frustrating each day...
please Sony, do something...
