this update kills my z5 compact. Poor ram managment make phone stutter badly. My phone is barly usable now. background in home screen is black all the time. apps use long long time to load up or just freeze. Web browser refresh page everytime. Even recieving a call is hard task for it, sometime the voice stop during conversation. it is the worst update I have ever seen from sony.

This is the worst update ever 32.4.A.0.160 (7.1.1). My phone is so slow that i can literally see each icon loading when i hit the home button. It takes about 7 seconds for them to load. Sometimes my keyboard doesn't appear in a variety of apps, features such as record my screen dont work and the battery literally goes down by the second. I'm gonna get flashtool and roll back, this is horrendous.

I totally regret my act by updating my Z5c to this version

List of the problem I encountered after the update so far:

-After the restart(around 1 hour or more),my phone starts heating for no reason

-After the heat problem,the phone starts laggy and sometimes freezes,such as slow keyboard responses,slow icon loading,and most of the time it started to totally freezes(can't do anything until it's able to unfreeze)

-Apps starts failing/force close when used at this rate

At the end,whenever the phone's started to slow,I have to restarted it all the time 'till now

This is so frustrating since I have to receive calls,replying messages or even to play games..

Come on Sony(you too,Google),this is the worst update than the loudspeaker problem..

Fix it ASAP.

well looks like the ghost sms'es in the default sms program are still happening.

today, after a week on 7.1.1 the sms program showed a number of "unknow sender" blank sms'es.

what a pity..thought they would have fixed it..

ill give it another week or so and then im rolling back to MM

7.1.1 update has made z5 compact unusable

Black home screen

Phone freezes

Touch screen unresponsive

Gets very hot

5 hours of Battery when left on side table untouched

Stamina on full setting

Have done two clean installs

Phone not fit for purpose

My have to return under warranty

Come on Sony give us some answers

I also updated my z5 compact to 7.1.1 on 7 July 2017 and have the same problems. The phone hangs and is very slow to the point it it very difficult to use even for phone calls and sms. Cannot get keyboard up. Cannot use Web browser. Cannot use contacts. When phone rings it doesn't register my contacts. When I do mange to use the phone ot activates do not disturb mode so I don't think call waiting will work. Restarting the phone improves the situation for only a very short time before it reverts back to hanging and slow. I have plenty of space so that shouldn't be an issue.

Also thought battery was running down quicker than before and after reading other's comments I'm sure it is.

Pretty disappointed as this phone has been flawless for 18 months and is now barely usable because of an update! I left iPhone for this so unless it is fixed quickly I'll be seeking an $800 refund for a product not fit for purpose.

Somebody mentioned about rolling back the update. How is this done?

I'm pissed off. Help.

If you are desperate. You can run phone in safe mode no games or apps but phone and internet work wich my be needed for work only

Power of on side button

Then long hold screen power off

It will say reboot into safe mode click ok done

I've mirrored my devices - and my main had light browser usage - the test device just had wifi and bluetooth connected. It doesn't appear that bluetooth is causing excessive device search battery usage that causes the processor to heat up if there is a problem. I haven't disabled mirror link like I usually do either. The standard dotted line slope is based on 2 Days ~ 9-10 hours.
