Still no Live-TV

Hi
I've posted this in another forum but haven't had any responses. A couple of weeks ago I started having problem with Live-TV on my Media Centre. I was getting "Tuner not available" error. After doing a re-installing, the TV option would not even appear in the VAIO Zone screen anymore.

Does anyone know how I can get it back? And what the problem is regarding "Tuner not avaulable"? I had been watching TV for over a year and I never installed anything to the machine since I bought it.

My machine seems to have a serial number that isn't recognised by Sony so I can't even get any online help.

I am starting to get very annoyed with Sony. I got my PSP last year and it came with 9 dead pixels. Trying to get Sony to help is so difficult - I am not going to buy any more Sony products for a long long while (a bit late since the house is already full of them).

Sorry about the moan !!! Any suggestion would be most welcome.

It might be that the tuner card is dead....... sorry

Have you contacted eSupport?

Which version of Vaio Zone are you using?

I think it's version 1.1, vaguely saw this number somewhere. I bought the machine a year ago.

How can one determine if the card is truely dead as Kee-Lo suggested?

Hi Kee-Lo,
Early morning, Didn't realise I could reply to earlier posts. How would one find out if the card is truely dead?

I couldn't get into e-Support, I registered but didn't get any replies. I tried a couple of times. I think the machine has a serial number that is not recognised by Sony.

Does it appear in Device Manager?

I've checked but couldn't see any devices labelled with "TV". What am I supposed to be looking for?

It's under PCI devices

Hi ,
try start (bottom left) , select my computer with right click, down to properties, left click on properties, then select hardware, then device manager then open the plus sign on Sound , Video and game Controller and look for Sony MPEG Realtime encoder
Hope it helps
I have a V3S but I am now in Canada and have to replace my TV Card due to being different standard (NTSC)

Hi, persevere with trying to register for e-support - i remember thinking i had an unrecognised serial number, and tried various numbers, until one worked. however it was a year ago so i can't remember the exact solution.
