Installing Win XP With laptop CD Key ?

Hi all,

I have tried to intergrate the CD Key from my laptop with nlite but it seems to still ask for my orignal windows cd key and when I enter my laptop cd key it doesn't work? Any ideas how I can just use my laptop CD Key with some sort of program?

Thanks

I presume that the disc is a OEM disc as the key is only likely to work with that. If you have a retail disc i don't think it works.

Other than that im not sure :slight_frown:

I am not quite sure... what do u mean by

Once copied, you need several files in your I386 folder from the Sony install. Now these are almost impossible to get if the hard-disk is corrupt, formatted or not accessible.

I mean do u mean there should be a folder called I386 under the Windows folder after a proper recovery has been done and that folder should be copied?

Hi AceCobra1

The i386 folder that Akash84 mentions can be found in the following location on your hard drive C:\WINDOWS\I386

If your hard-disk is corrupt, formatted or not accessible, you will need to install the original Vaio operating system, etc first.

You can recover (if you have a recovery partition) by tapping F10 when you see the VAIO logo when it boots up and follow the instructions.

You can create recovery discs (If you have a recovery partition) by going to VAIO Recovery Utility on the start menu and following the instructions.

This will depend on the age of the Vaio, what model do you have..?

If the F10 recovery suggestion does not work then you can contact Vaio-Link to purchase a new set of recovery DVD's..:smileysad:

I have the AR190G... for some reason, there isn't the F10 option... I am not sure if the guy deleted it or what.. either or, the harddrive is gone beyond repair coz even my other laptops don't even see it as a drive... No chance u can just email me those files?

I don't think so.

Just contact VAIO LINK ^^ and they will send you a recovery disc but it will come at a price.
