I had the Sony Reader PRST1 bought as a present at Christmas 2011. I have found it a nightmare to get books downloaded onto my device. I am ready to throw the thing out the window ! I would certainly like the name and address of some Big Chief at Sony responsible for the Sony e-Reader and whoever writes the Guide / Instructions. I am quite computer literate but have found it impossible to get any book onto my e-Reader. It has not helped that I have been given conflicting and just wrong information from the chaps in the 2 Sony shops and from Waterstones technical people (where I wanted to download e-book from). The Guide on the device talks all the time about the Reader Store but of course that is not active at the moment so again, it is totally misleading.
I am intending to give the Reader back to the friend who bought it forme, so he can take it back to the Sony shop it was bought from, where the sales assistant praised the e-Reader and said how easy it was for anyone to use ?! and ask for his money back, because it is just not fit for purpose.
Now if someone out there, be it Sony employee or individual who is happy with their Sony e-Reader and who can explain how I get the thing to do what it is supposed to do, easily and simply and quickly, so I can use it for it's intended purpose, then please, please reply to this.

Hello laytonlily - first, I'm nothing to do with Sony !
But, I am a Sony ereader. I hope I can help a bit.
To use the T1 with wifi, you do need to authorise it with Adobe - get an Adobe ID. Also, register. sign up, with Sony Reader software. I'm Mr. Tech Dunce, so it can be done, I just followed the manual - but I'm not sure I could remember it all.

hi i am just the same sat for days trying to work it out ended up clicking on everything at last 2 free ebooks downloaded but three copies of each and havent got a clue how i did it think i should have bought a kindle
The first thing to check is that the eReader is Adobe DRM authorized.
From the 'Home' page tap the arrow at the bottom right of page 1 which will take you to page 2, from the page displayed tap the 'Settings' box at the bottom left of the page, then on the settings page tap the
'About' icon and then tap 'Device Information'.
If your eReader is Adobe DRM authorized you should see the following message:-
"Adobe DRM This device is authorized for reading and purchasing Adobe DRM content."
If the above message is not present you will have to create an Adobe account as mentioned in a previous
posting.
