I downloaded a number of books from my library a few days ago and one was in Adobe PDF format (it was not available in Adobe e-Pub format) and it was almost unreadable due to the time it took to change pages, it would also display blank pages and pages with a single character on it. In the end I gave up trying to read it and returned it to the library.
Has anyone else had problems trying to read Adobe PDF format books on the PRS-T1 reader?
One of the books I downloaded was by a Danish author but the library does not have any further books by this author at the moment, I searched the web and came across a number of titles by the author most translated into German but one or two into English. The problem is the the English versions only appear to be available in Kindle format from Amazon. I would be prepared to buy the Kindle format one if I could convert it to Adobe e-Pub format.
A search of Google shows a number of websites claiming to offer software which would enable this conversion but has anyone experience of software which successfully does the conversion?
Solved! Go to Solution.
These books will be DRM protected so converting them will mean breaking that protection. This practice is quite possibly illegal.
I would therefore direct you to the Mobileread forums, you may get better advice there.
Thanks for the advice!
I have just done a search on my library's website and the book I am after is stocked by the library but is out at present so have just placed a reserve on it so hopefully should receive an email once it has been returned.
Will also do a more complete search of Google as the books are available in Adobe ePub format although my initial search only showed the Kindle format ones as being available.
Have you looked at book stores in the US, such as Books on Board. Or you could try www.inkmesh.com
I used the book search facility in 'Calibre' to locate some books by the author I was interested in.
The only problem I found was that they appear to change the title name for the American market compared to the UK market so you have to check the book details to ensure that you do not end up buying the same book twice!
Inkmesh is excellent - it even sometimes gives you UK sources. But I've bought from the States from their results OK.
And I agree about MobileRead - they have a list of all ebook search engines, anhd a section listing all UK libraries with digital content, a real asset. And they do have a goodly number of Sony software problems solved or talked about in the make-specific sections.:smileyhappy:

I did check Inkmesh website that you and sehuxle mentioned and found it very useful.
It appears to be different from other sites as it shows book suitability for various devices rather than book format type.
Some of the books I looked at on American sites are half the price of the same book from UK sites, I have now bookmarked Inkmesh for future use.
