Hi,
I have Sony Xperia E5 (F3311) with the latest update (Android 6.0, v. 37.0.A.2.108).
- I have a need to install .apk (Android Application) from SD-card or via downloading package from Internet and installing it from the internal storage.
- I can't/won't use Google Play store, because there is no intention on using Google-account.
For some reason, when I try to open .apk -file from Settings > Storage and Memory > Advanced > Explore, I find the package and try to install it. Phone says "Can't open file".
Error is always "Can't open file", even if I copy the file to internal memory and try to access it from there.
- I have turned on the setting "Allow application install from unknown sources"
- I have also tried to boot to "Safe mode" and tried to install it from there - same thing (Can't open file")
- I have tried to install the previous versions of this application that I have - same thing ("Can't open file")
BUT, if I download and install File Explorer -application from Google Play (did this just to test, can't do that normally) and access the file from there - the appliction installs normally.
This problem occurs in more than just one phone - but all the phones are E5 (F3311) models. Other brand Android phones the application installs just fine, from the same SD-card.
Sony - how can I install .apk application to my phone from SD-card or from internal memory, without having to use Google-Play or 3rd party File Explorer ??
