Over the past couple of days I my phone has been dying frequently.
During my work days the phone is idle most of the time and I can usually have a fully charged phone in the morning and still have around 40% by the time I'm off to bed however lately I'm lucky if my phone lasts till 4pm before turning off.
i have noticed that when my phone is in use, the battery has started to drop rather rapidly and the once it gets to around 30% the battery level immediately drops to zero and powers off (it literally did it while I was looking at it). It doesn't let me power it back on until it's charged enough.
ive also noticed that if I use it for even a moment while it's on charge the battery still drops. Anyone have any ideas as to what's happening?

I have been checking my phone and it looks like something is running in the background but only when the phone is being used and it does not drain the battery in standby mode. If you look at the booster icon it is showing a large amount of memory being used for just looking at emails or messages. Something is staying open when not needed I hope this may help us solve the issue
Just an update on the previous post I used 310mb of memory just writing that post
Possible solution which I believe has worked is to go into settings, about phone and do all the tests as I think the GPS has stuck as testing it stopped the battery from draining and phone appears to be working normally. It is only a suggestion but worth trying Good luck
Same here! Is there some official answer and solution from Sony about this issue? Phone with issue like this is practically totally useless!
@sylvester05
My test failed at gps, too. But that unfortunately didnt solve the problem 😕
Hi @DarkFire, sorry to hear about this.
I have edited the subject and moved the post to the Xperia E5 board instead!
Have you had the time to try the device in safe mode and if you have, was there any change?
Keep us posted on how it goes!
Thank you.
No I'm still having issues. Even with the pho in safe mode I still have quick battery drain, slow charging, and dying. Also what I forgot to mention earlier is how hot the battery is getting.
The phone is up to date (marshmallow 6.0) and when looking at the battery usage it says the highest usage is android system at about 58% even when I have things like WiFi and screen rotate off.
If the phone still have issues in safe mode you can try a software repair with Xperia Companion, if even then the issues continue maybe it is better that you get your device hardware looked at by your Local Sony Xperia Support Team.
By the way you say your battery runs hot but in the battery test images you upload displays your battery temperature as 33-34ºC, that's a normal temperature.
