HDR-HC5 LCD "tracking" problem

Remember years ago, when TVs were full of tubes, and there was a "tracking" adjustment.  If the picture kept scrolling up or down, you could alter the tracking until the picture steadied itself.  Well, when I open the LCD on my camcorder, the picture keeps on scrolling upwards, refreshing itself from the bottom.  When I flip the screen through 180, then it sorts itself out.  Any ideas what could be causing this.  The picture is fine through the view finder.

Hi penthor, welcome to the Sony Forums

It's a little unusual to get that fault but I'm quite sure it's due to a broken ribbon cable. This is the connector that passes through the hinge of the articulated screen. It's a common enough problem with older cameras but this model is quite recent

If it's still under guarantee you can register it for a repair here: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/repair

Cheers
