Why can't I purchase the GW55VE on-line, I live near Norwich and our nearest Sony Shop is miles away, so an on-line purchase would be handy.

I can see what you mean about the camcorder not being available to purchase online from the official Sony site. I cannot really offer any explanation about for this but I am assuming that it is a stock issue.

On the other hand, I can see on Google that there are some other retailers who are offering this product for sale. I am unable to post the exact pages here, but they are pretty prominent on the first page of results at around the £400 mark.
