Hi Sven, welcome to the Sony Forums 
The viewer is intended for movie playback so there's now reason why you shouldn't watch your Handycam footage on it, but I'm not sure you can use the Viewer while recording. You would need to have a Handycam which supports a live monitor and, even then I'm not sure it would work with the Viewer interface 
Maybe someone knows otherwise, but I'd be surprised if this was possible.
