I am a complete techo novice and need some help!
I have a DCR SR30 which i have never dowloaded from and i noticed the other day that our Wedding footage and our 1st anniversary footage are no longer at the front of the list. I attached it to the computer incase they had been hidden but they weren't there.
I am a little confused as i would have expected a warning if the hard drive was about to overwrite the footage and also that it is 'all' gone as it was many little shots and they all disappeared together? We only recorded an hour of new footage and the lost footage would have been much longer than that?
I have read that you can sometimes recover deleted footage but don't know where this has gone - whether it has been deleted, over written or what?? Can someone recommend some recovery software or any other help would be gratefully appreciated. I am

Hello crossy - Welcome to the Sony Forums
If you are certain that the video files are no longer visible on the hard drive, there are various pieces of software that claim to be able to recover deleted files. Some are free, and others are paid-for, but I would have a go with one of the free options first of all.
This kind of software works by recognising your camcorder as a regular external hard drive. There is a pretty good article about the best free data recovery options available here:

At the top of the list, Recuva appears to be relatively straightforward to use. As with any computer related issue, you may find that another one works better for you, but at least this list gives you something to work on without having to take a risk with expensive software.
Thanks,
Simon
