Transferring video files on to a Mac

I have a DCR-SR35E handycam and I want to transfer my video files on to my Mac computer so I can make DVDs. I have contacted Sony but their suggestions haven't helped. Does anyone know how to do this?

As a starting point, Sony have published the following guide online for Mac users:

As you can probably imagine, it may not always be completely straightforward. The computer connection is USB based, which means that there can sometimes be complications depending upon the exact version of the Mac OS that you are using (as well as the version of iMovie). In theory, if you follow the steps in the guide, this should work perfectly but if it does not, please let me know if you are using iMovie, the exact version of this software and also some information about your operating system so that I can look into this further.
