In 1999 I bought a SONY Model No. DCR-PC1E Digital Video Camera Recorder - Serial number 2056810; it cost about £1000 and I then used it that year on a trip to South Africa. Those films were then transferred to VHS video tapes. The camera has not been used since.
I am now hoping to use the camera again this year on a special trip to the USA but will need to make a number of copies of the films, hopefully to my computer. I am of the older generation and not well up to the present day IT matters. I know I need a USB / Sony Camera cable to make an easy transfer but because of the age of my hardly used camcorder 'inset connector' (No.41 in the manual) is a small oblong shape with a one side indent. I did manage to get a DCR-PC1E cable on Amazon but the camera connection was bucket shaped and also too large for the fitting. Have tried looking for the part on this SONY site but it does not seem to recognise DCR-PC1E or my serial number which is affixed to my camera.
Please can anyone,or, Sony, tell me the product number of the necessay transfer cable or suggest how I can easily transfer my films to the computer. I am not too clever with modern IT methods. Thanks

Confusingly, the cable you are looking for is known by, at least, three names: -
DV IEE1394 Cable
iLink Cable
4-pin Firewire Cable
They are all the same thing. Have a look here: -
You should be able to buy one in any good photographic shop.
