I do not receive text messages (sms)

I've got a problem with my Xperia Z5. For a while (not sure even when it started) I'm not receiving any text messages. There is no problem with sending texts, calling, ansering the calls, everything is working properly except for this. Tried to contact my operator, reset factory settings, check the settings... Don't know what can cause this problem. Has anybody had that issue before?

Did your operator send you a setup SMS?

Hi @Agooseberry, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

As @NeoBeum mentioned, have you asked your operator to check if there is any unexpected behaviour with sending SMS messages on their end? You can also try with a different SIM card in your device, if one of your friends, colleagues or family members also have a Nano SIM card that you can test in your device that would be great.

If you haven't tried to send a text message to your own number, you can try to do that and see if you can receive this message.

If you still can't receive text messages, try downloading a different SMS application from the Google Play store!

Let us know how it went! Slightly_smiling_Face

It's the end of the year 2018 and this problem still bothers me with my XZ 1 compact. I can't beblieve how slow Sony's team is to fix problems like this.

My main problem with SMS is that, my XZ 1 compact will simply stop receive SMS(text messages). I have to reboot my cell phone to receive the message.

This has caused a lot of pain when I need to do any types of two step verifacations.

Please fix this and fix it quickly!

One thing to take note is that I have enabled VoLTE and I set LET as my preferred network type.

I am going to switch to WCDMA. There could be a problem within Xz1 compact's LET handleing.

Hi @Eadmond, sorry to hear about this and I apologize for the late reply. I have been out of office due to vacation.

That sounds very strange. Are you able to send text messages all the time, or is that function not working correctly either?

As there is no setting for this in the device, could you try a different SIM card in your device and see if that helps? If you have a friend, colleague or a family member with a Nano SIM card, you can ask them if you can borrow theirs, or get in touch with your operator so they can send you a new one.

Keep me posted!

Hi @Jonas,

I kind of solved this issue by setting my mobile network perference from LTE to WCDMA. And from that on, I can receive message and send messages correctly. I think it's some problem with the LTE implementation.

And if any one of you is actually listening. Can you guys do something do let us able to move our app's to SD cards? I am not so sure if it's Sony or Google made it impossible for us to move apps. But my xz1 c 's internal memory is almost full while I am having an almost empty 128 SD card. That's really frustrating! And I have moved all Netflix, Spotify caches to the SD cards already! I am still running out of memory!

Hi again @Eadmond!

That sounds strange, it should work just fine over LTE as well. Could you try with a different SIM card and see if that helps? I just want to make sure that we cover everything.

Regarding applications to the SD card, this is not support in the Xperia XZ1 Compact, but since you have moved Netflix and Spotify offline material to your SD card, what is occupying the space on your internal storage? Keep in mind that some application saves a lot of cached data on the device and after a while this can become quite big, so if you go to Settings > Storage > Internal storage > tap one of the categories that takes up the most space > wait for the apps to sort in size > tap one of the apps at the top and check how much data is says under "Cache".

Cached data is mostly temporary data so it will not delete any personal information and you can clear it by tapping "Clear cache".

Let me know if that helps!

Hi @softnetworks, sorry for the late reply.

I'm not familiar with this model, could you please go to Settings > (System) > About phone and get back to me with the model number.

Thank you.
