Advice on headphones for a Walkman A845 please?

I have a Walkman A845 with which I am over the moon but I use it when working in my garage and with all of the movement, the earpieces come out.  I now wear ear defenders over the earpieces which is inconvenient.  Can anyone recommend suitable (over the head) headphones for this Walkman please?

I have emailed Sony Support and had no reply.  I have also rang them but the 'advisor' there just asked me if I had seen the website which I had, and then went on to read what was on it.  He hadn't got a clue and was unable to advise me.

I am concerned that the earpiece jack is 5 pin and yet headphone jacks are normally 3 pin.  Does this make a difference - is it just for the earphone noise cancelling?

Really I don't want to spend any more than £100.  Any advise would be really welcome.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul

Difficult one this, as headphone comfort and fit (even performance to a certain degree) can be very subjective.

The best advice I can offer is to hit the shops and try out a few pairs directly.  Places like HMV now offer dedicated headphone areas with many available to try on and even listen to.

Although I am reluctant to offer specific headphone recommendations, I have recently got a pair of MDR-ZX700’s for the occasional train journey to work.  Slightly more gentle use than a garage, but so far I have been impressed, they sound pretty good for the price (much less than your budget) and I find them very comfortable.

No guarantee they will work for you but its at least a starting point.

The extra pins are for the noise cancelling option but you can still use regular 3-pin headphones.

Hope this helps
