Hi can anyone help me?
I just bought a new sony vaio desktop VGC-JS2E and I can not seem to get the webcam working.
I am trying to use Windows Live Messenger and for some reason my laptop thinks that the camera is already being used by another program and wont let me use video chat.
I have no other applications open so I know the camera is not being used by another program.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Hi Chameleon Interactive and welcome to Club Vaio.
I think you have McAfee security suite for a 60 day trial. If you are using the web browser feature called 'SiteAdvisor' you need an update from McAfee.

many thanks for the advice. It was McAfee
I've actually completely removed it 'cos I was never intending to purchase it anyway. Any suggestions on a good replacement? I have Avast home edition anti-virus but only what came out of the VAIO box as other protection.
Most people seem to rate Kaspersky Internet Security Suite.
I still use ZoneAlarm ISS - more from familiarity than specification.
PC Pro recommend Avira ISS - have a look here: -

However, for a free solution Windown Firewall + AVG (Free) irrespective of cost takes some beating.
