earlier i vaio pcv-rs224 just turned off/ restarted by its self it had no reason for doing so,,, i havent installed anything previously ect

my anti virus (norton 2004) fully updated....... says that there is nothing on my pc,,,, but this programe does,nt actually seem to be working properly anyway,,,

the norton anti spam doesnt seem to work and every time i connect to the internet.....

at first it wont let me then i open my norton fire wall go to configure,,,, press nothing at all......... and for some reason that seems to allow me to connect after that...........

what i need to know is if i restore my vaio... will this delete the virus........??????????????

When I first bought my PCV-RZ504 back in March I had problems sounding similar to yours. I returned it and was told there was nothing wrong with it and that I should reinstall Windows. The same problems kept on so I returned it again, whereupon the repair team found that the P4 chip was broken in some way. It took them around five weeks to find a replacement, but I've been very happy with it since [so far, fingers crossed]...

i have had my vaio now for around say 7 mounths and before everything was fine i have never had it restart it self apart from once and that was due to a modem.........

i have also recently installed new hardware that being the matrox parhelia 128mb and the matrox rt x 100 xtreme

they also have been install for around two weeks with out anyproblems

i also have experienced a little probelm before this one which happened yesturday i install the lib and ulti from the vaio disk
and then when it started to install my computer restarted and then when i re-entered windows this installation was happening ,,,,,,

i had removed the disk so its like what the f......... was that all about ,,,,,,

and no one actaully replied to my question if i restore the vaio to its factory default settings will this delete the virus in the process

thanks ben

A complete install should get rid of everything - so make sure you back up important data. Also, turn off restore points.

yo dudes thanks for all your help

it seems i havent got the blaster .........searched with the norton blaster tool and nothing........ some people would proberly be happy with that

but i would have rather it been the blaster than anything with the vaio :slight_frown:

and can you tell me why exactly i have to turn off my system restore points before restoring my vaio ??????????????
does'nt the restore do that ???????????

and just to make sure .........

im not tlking about a little restore done with a restore point or from within windows

im tlking about the full restore with the cd
rebooting and then pressing any key

and so on and so forth

thanks again ben

Thats good Ben, but there's still the problem.
It's hard to say what's at fault too.
I would reformat.

i know its a bit annoying to say the least and by reformating

you mean restoring ??????????

it could also be a problem with my hardware thou ?????????

due to the fact that the matrox rt x 100 xtreme ......is'nt compatible with hibernation or any sort of power management

also i am advised to keep the first driver that came with the matrox parhelia ..... if using any matrox video hardware ....

i was unable to do that because of a system 32 clash ........

and then was advised to upgrade the driver by the matrox techy's

and what power does pal plug sockets send out ???????? 300w

there could be a number of things causeing my problem .....but where to start ......

i mean i cant get a good enough anwser from the sony surport about my motherboard ........... i hate that

Complicated.

I would do a full format as you probably have a conflict with the old graphics card.

ummm how exactly would it be my old graphics card ....... uninstalled it age's ago

there is no reference to it any where on my pc

also all hardware is installed and working properly

i have a strange feeling that it is my stinking motherboard

i say stinking i dont even know what it is all i get from support is the vaio motherboards are oem versions of certain maufactures

which doesnt really help at all

what to do :smileythinking:

is there anything that would have done this normally say if it had a serge of power or losing connection from the net in an unauthordox way ect ect................

i am stumped and dont know really what else to do apart from restore my vaio to its factory default settings.....................or just think nothing of it and carry on my day to day usage ..............hoping it doesnt happen again ( not a good idea though)

which i dont really want to do for obvious reason's

who knows ( maybe the guys from above
:smileyliar: ) :hugging:
