I've installed the official Sony VGN F21H sound drivers, that come in the "originally installed" .zip package.
However the device does not function. After installing, in device manager it comes up as
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? I'm using the OS: "Windows XP Media Center edition" with the serial key which came with my laptop originally.
Hi pyrathian and welcome to Club Vaio.
Windows XP does not support Hi Definition sound and cannot install the driver.
Install the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for high Definition Audio (KB835221 or the newer KB888111) first? This allows the sound chip to be recognised.
You should find it in Drivers\Hotfix on the drivers package for an XP Vaio. I attach a copy toi the bottom of this post for your use.
Run the attached file and then you will be able to install the Sigmatel driver.
