VGN-BX61MN hotkeys on xp install

Hey guys, this ones driving me mad!

got myself a second hand VGN-BX61MN  (PCG-9Y2M on the base)

wiped it totally clean of factory install and backup etc, installed xp sp3.

gone through the sony website for all the drivers and utilities and 99% seems to be working perfectly,

just can't for the life of me get the sony function keys (brightness, volume etc) to work. Cant even find a help topic similar anywhere, please help!! what have i missed?

Hi bigkevjones and welcome.

Your VGN-BX61MN was released with Vista installed so you need to install the XP Utilities from the download website for your model here: -

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGN-BX61MN/updates

Go to the section "Latest Downloads" -> "Windows XP" and download and install the following utility programs IN ORDER:

1. Sony Utills DLL

2. Sony Shared Library

3. Setting Utility Series

4. Vaio Event Service

These MUST be installed in this order along with any suggested reboots and you may have to repeat steps 1 to 4 if it is not successful first time.
