Just purchased an S5XP. When trying to use DVD burning software (3) They all fail to recognise 'F' drive. Not very up on tech stuff.. Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks
Hi 747dragon and welcome to the forum.
Is Device Manager reporting any error messages for the drive?
Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM Drives.
Thanks Rich
Done that & "This device is working properly" comes up!
Tried again to make a DVD. I can take data of a CD/DVD into the HDD, but when it comes to transfering this to a blank DVD, this is when I get message "Drive is not connected" or "No drive detected"
Otherwise it plays DVD,s & music CD,s fine!
Cheers.

Hi Dragon,
Assuming that your notebook has the MATSHITA UJ832 fitted, there is a firmware update available at Vaio-Link. This claims to address issues regarding reading certain DVD-Discs so I am not sure that it will solve your problem.
You could try different brands of DVD media such as Sony or Memorex and also if you are using DVD +R try DVD –R or the other way around.
Btw, which burning software are you using?
Hi
Thanks, I will try some other disks then. Software tried so far, Click to DVD, Roxio, and one other premium program, the name I forgot.
Thanks again
Dragon
PS. Already loaded the firmware update...... no difference.
