I recently bought the Vaio VGN-A115M which has the Matshita DVD writer UJ-820D. After changing the operating system to Win2000, the eject button doesn't work anymore. Does anyone have an idea how I could get the button to work or where to find drivers? The Sony download site doesn't seem to support Win2000 drivers and I wasn't able to find them on the web either.
The only place they would be is VAIO-Link
Only the windows xp drivers are there and they dont work. it must be possible to use the laptop properly under windows 2000 somehow!
Sony don't usually support older OS'es.
Windows 2000 is older than XP - some hardware may not have 2000 drivers in the same way that there are probably no Windows 98 drivers.
So it therefore may not be possible to run 2000 with complete hardware support.
Sony don't seem to have much Win98 stuff anymore. Which is good imho
It is always advisable to ensure that the operating system you want to use on a computer is supported before buying a computer. Doubly so on a notebook as drivers are quite often only available from the manufacturer.
Thats why it's best not to rush into a purchase.
