I see posts stating that this certain cases were suitable for 40gb or 20 gb model - I thought that the external dimensions for the different models were identical.
Need to know as I am getting a 40gb next week to replace our 20gb - but want to keep the old case.
p.s. - try and get the american issue of the vaio case - although it's made of fabric, it has a belt loop and is not so slippery as the european type

the 40gb is slightly (couple of millimetres) bigger i think. the pdair case doesn't fit the 40gb - it's mae to fit the 20gb perfectly. i think there's only one sony case though, which is sized to fit both. hope that helps

Hello,
Looking at the figures for both units
20Gb = 115 x 63 x 17mm
40Gb = 115 x 63 x 21mm
i understand that it is the battery (silver handle at the end) that makes the difference. Which leads to the question do 20gb vs 40gb users experience different battery lives?
:smileyhypnotized:
It´s not the battery - it´s the hard drive I believe. The batteries are the same.
Cheers,
Thomas
Fair enough.
i think the 40gb does have a bigger battery; the hard drive has 2 extra heads so needs more power and sony increased the battery to compensate and give the same life as the 20gb. sure i read that on here a while ago
I thought so to.
But, fair enough either way.:smileygrin:
