I have a long list of sony utilities in my recovery DVD. I think it would be a good thing to know exaclty what does each of them, and which ones are needed for another to work properly. So: I will start with what I found out. Anyone who knows anything else is welcome.
ISB Utility
I found written somewhere that it is needed for VAIO power management. How is this linked with VAIO Power Management?

Probably works together with ISB Utility, but how? Are both required?

Utility for updating pre-configured software on your VAIO
Wireles Lan Starter
A simplified tool for detecting and configuring Wlan
Wireless Switch Setting Utility
A useful utility that lets you switch on/off all your wireless connections, Wlan and bluetooth
