Hi all,
Hope someone can offer some advice. I was upgrading my sony Vaio S3XP to 2 gig of ram when unfortunately I damaged the connection between the keyboard and motherboard.
I accidentally managed to break what appeared to be a plastic clamp holding the keyboard green connector lead to the motherboard. There is now nothing to hold the cable in place in the socket.
Given the fact that it appears I've broken the socket mounting that is attached to the motherboard I'm assuming I might well need to replace the whole motherboard.
Can anyone advise on a possible repair? If not does anyone know how much a new motherboard would cost?
I absolutely love the computer and would therefore be willing to replace the motherboard as long as the cost wasn't too prohibitive.
Cheers,
Chris.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
I would email these guysNEXTRONICS
If they can help and you are willing to fit it yourself it will be a lot cheaper than Sony.
Assuming the bit you are talking about just retains the ribbon cable have you considering bodging it with glue?
I am not sure about runny superglue but was thinking of something like Bostik or Evo Stik. Maybe Superglue Gel would be good?
It would be a hell of a lot cheaper.
