BEST WAY TO CLEAN LAPTOP SCREEN

Hi all,

Im a proud owner of vaio fe series laptop for about three months now. My screen is still in mint condition. No scratches or something like that. I do see a lot of fingerprint marks on the screen and quite a bit of dust. Im thinking of using a soft cloth and light solution of isopropyl (50%). What do you think?

Please share your methods for this task!!

Thank U

Hi sgrenfurm,

My favoured method is to use a microfibre cloth moistened with a small amount of water and work from the centre of the screen out.

If you wear glasses, the cleaning cloth provided often works very well. I usually use it dry, but it might work better wet.
NEVER use any solvent to clean a plastic unless it has been specifically recommended by the manufacturers.

Hi sgrenfurm

I use nothing more than a dry microfibre cloth to clean my screen and occasionally I might breathe on the screen to remove some spots. Microfibre cloths are available from most shops now.

The Sony Store in Vancouver sold me a 'Monster ScreenClean' kit, containing a Microfiber cloth and two travel size (45ml) spray solution bottles when I bought a new Vaio there recently. The staff there informed that they use these products on all of their in-store screens (so laptops, televisions, etc..) I've now used this product myself on two Vaios and an LCD television, with very satisfactory results.
Unfortunately this product doesn't seem to be available in Europe yet, but like the other responses here, I'd still recommend a Microfiber cloth.

I've got an FE-31H.

I used to clean the screen with a feather duster (dammvippa in swedish :)), it was very soft and did not scratch. However It got charged with static electricity and after dusting my VAIO it did not respond anymore. So I had to restart it by pressing the power-button. It works fine now thou but I won't use the feather duster again. Scary.

I tried a cloth instead, one I've bought in a glasses store (optician) for cleaning glasses. It works fine but I've only used it dry so it's difficult get rid of all the dust, it just wipes the dust from the center of the screen to the corners and sides. I hope the dust won't try to the get inside the screen...

I hate dust

I use a soft, wide (and never been used for painting) paintbrush to get rid of dust. I brush from the top down and then across the bottom.

After my dog sneezed on my screen I used Ixos (Alcohol Free) Screen Cleaning Tissues and they got all the snot off without putting any pressure on the screen.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I'll just use parts of all your methods. Bought a microfibre cloth and a special spray specifically made for lcd screens. Start cleaning from the center of the screen going outwards. Then use a small soft brush to remove all the dust that fell on the keyboard. Im pretty satisfied with the results. No more smudges from people touching my screen (hate when they do that) .

While we are on the subject of cleaning. What would u suggest for removing scratches on the body of the laptop. Specifically where the VIAO logo is positioned?? I have no idea what to do here.

THANK YOU
