unable to playback avi

hi everyone ,my brand new kdl 22" sees the avi on the usb but says "playback unavailable"please what do i do now

Playback depends on the codec and used within the avi 'wrapper'. Best check the manual for supported formats and re-encode or use a DLNA server like Serviio which will transcode on the fly.

thank you for the reply i have read up on avi/codecs and have managed to make progess ,still working on DNLA but looking good,thanks
