Sport Multiscreen- still waiting???

Hi nickpellow, I have exactly the same problem, i bought my KDL-32W5810 about 9 months ago, and the sportmultiscreen was working fine until about Sept time and then it stopped working, same as you I get the 'please wait' and then nothing.  I have phoned freeview and they have tested the signal (using my postcode) and have confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the signal. I emailed sony, the customer information centre, at the end of sept and they replied that it was either the signal or if it was not, to contact them again in 6 weeks as they were looking at an OAD to resolve the problem, I'm going to contact them today, but don't hold out much hope!

That very interesting. I wonder how may other people have this problem?   If we can get enough we might get some more attention to this problem.

When I spoke to the Freeview people they were very clear that it was a known Sony problem and I got the impression when I spoke to Sony that a firmware fix would be available for us to download. I have not been able to verify this. I will be interested in what they tell you when you call.

Cheers, Nick

Hi Nick

If you can select BBC multi screen then there is nothing wrong with the service, I suspect the TV has developed a fault and would require service attention, i recommend you contact your local authorised repair centre so they can advise what has gone wrong, there are serveral reasons this could happen, please visit http://support.sony-europe.com/repair/asc/asc.aspx?site=odw_en_GB to find your local support

Is this an official Sony response?? If so it differs from what I was told before. I bought the product from the Windsor Sony centre so I will call and ask them. It is under guarantee but this is a large TV fixed to the wall.  Its not that easy to move around!!

I also have a KDL-32W5810 and am experiencing the same problem with the multiscreen not working on Freesat.

It's still under warranty so I could do with a definitive answer from Sony as to whether it is a fault of the TV/Firmware or Freesat (but I assume that there is no problem with Freesat as it only effects Sonys).

I have logged a support question with Sony Eurpoe and will update this thread if /when I get a reply.

Any updates would be appreciated.

I spoke to my local shop today and I'll see where that goes.

I did notice that there was a freeview update on the 30th September which seems to coincide with the time I started to have problems.  There are various updates for freeview sets but it was not supposed to effect satellite based services....... I'm not so sure!!

Dear Mr Shepherd

Thank you for your recent e-mail received on 13/11/2010 11.10 AM.

I am pleased to learn that you are the owner of a Sony KDL-32W5810. However, I am sorry to learn of the difficulties that you are experiencing.

Having read your description of the problem, Sony is unable to offer a diagnosis via e-mail. As a result, we would suggest that your product is examined by an Authorised Service Centre. I guess I will be trying to get it 'repaired' via John Lewis and if not a replacement as it is under guarantee!

Same here,no multiscreen on freesat using kdl-32w5810 with software 1.720sa.

I got the set about 5 months ago with a 5 year warranty, set it up and downloaded latest firmware to usb and updated, hardwired to router and iplayer works, multiscreen worked then about 2 months ago multiscreen just stopped working.

press red button for menu

select sport multiscreen

"please wait" flashes for about half a second then nothing

now i cannot access red buton

select menu and change channel then change channel back

now i can use red button again

i now use index/sport to try to access multiscreen using 3001

now the tv is frozen in text mode with "please wait" across the top red bar

the only way to exit is to press menu and change channel

To my mind this is definately a software/firmware fail

Has anybody got any news about this problem?
