STR-DN1080 HDMI 4k/1080p output question

Hi,

I am thinking about upgrading my STR-DN1050 to the STR-DN1080. My primary reason is I have upgraded to a 4K HDR10 television and XB1X and PS4Pro.

A the moment I am not passing the video output from consoles through the old receiver as it doesn't support HDCP 2.2. With the STR-DN1080 I want to pass everything through the STR-DN1080 and have the 4K tv connnected to one HDMI out and my standard 1080p projector to the 2nd HDMI output.

My question is will the consoles pass through full 4k HDR10 content through to the TV even if there is a 1080p device connected to the second HDMI output? I'm guessing I would switch the HDMI output on the STR-DN1080 to only use the output I need.

If I switched output to the 1080p projector, the signal should be downgraded to 1080p. There is no time I would need to output the signal to both outputs at the same time.

If anyone could save me the hassle of just buying one and testing I would appreciate it! Thanks.

As long as you'll be using one output at a time -either the TV or the projector- the signal passed through from the gaming consoles will not be compromised. In other words, the amp will pass on the signal in 4K HDR to the TV when selected but if you switch to the projector it will automatically downgrade it to SD.

This is not accurate.

i have SKY Q sending 4k signal to the amp and  display on my UHD 10bit tv is fine.  However my projecter cannot display image as it is only HD compatible.  Amp is set to A+B output.

now my problem is to try and get the amp to downgrade the signal to HD FOR THE PROJECTOR on output B.   How do i do that?

Even when switching output to B only, the projector does not display, which means amp is still trying to send 4k signal to a non 4k device

I'm having the same problem. I'm getting picture on my LG C9 4k display but not on my infocus X10 1080p projector.

Any progress for you guys?
