Hi,
After performing the auto speaker calibration and selecting a setting ("Full Flat" for example), this setting is not stored.
When I switch the receiver off and on again, the speaker calibration setting is ignored, although it still says "Full Flat" in the menu. The sound is as if it was set to "Off".
I need to manually set the setting to "Off" and to "Full flat" to hear the correct speaker calibration.
Thanks for your help!
Phil
Hi Phil, welcome to the Community.
Can you check the calibration procedure against this Help Guide document? You should be able to save settings as part of the process.
Cheers
Mick
Hi Mick,
I just re-calibrated the system and everything is stored as explained.
However, when I switch off the receiver and switch it on again, what I hear is NOT what I heard after the calibration (which sounded much better).
When I then look into the settings, the calibration is however still on "Full flat" (what I liked and saved after the calibration process). Although I don't hear that!
When I then switch the setting to "off", the sound does not change (which it should, bypassing the calibration).
When I then switch the setting "Full Flat" on again, there I get the godd sound again, which I measured and stored.
So the problem remains....
Maybe one should try to reproduce exactly this on the same receiver.
Thanks
Phil
Hi Phil,
I'd recommend doing the basic steps first like making sure the receiver is up to date and to initialize it to factory settings. But if the issue remains, It would be nice to know what are the devices connected to the amp and what is the connection method used.
Also, when did this issue start? was it working before (saving the calibration)? or is this the first time it's calibrated?
Win_88
Hi Win_88,
The receiver is brand new and does this since I began using it.
Firmware is up to date.
Equipment connected to the receiver:
Sony BluRay player / HDMI.
Sonos network audio player / SPdif Coax.
Tanny 5.1 speaker system.
Sony TV / HDMI.
I would be interested in knowing if other owners can reproduce this problem.
The problem is always there, not depending on the selected sources (BluRay player or Sonos).
Thanks for your help

Hi I just bought this receiver April 2019 and am having the same problem, the calibration settings are not being saved. What is the fix for this problem
Hi,
No I haven't solved this issue.
My Sony dealer wanted me to pass by at his shop so that he can show me how the calibration works.
I told them that I do know how it works....otherwise I wouldn't have been able to discover this problem in the first place.
Now they want me to come by to the shop so that they can check by themselves. And I know that this will take so much time to setup, calibrate, discuss, etc.
You certainly know by now that this is a subtle yet important problem, where you need a decent listening environment.
So I kind of started to live with it and always switch the setting manually. It's such a shame.
Next time I'll buy online and just send the unit back and get my money back and buy another brand....

I have just realised this is also happening to me.
I configure the amp, it sounds great on full flat, and then when I turn it off and back on it shows as though full flat is active, but the auto calibration setting is effectively off (until I select it again). This is so frustrating!
Has Sony recognised a fault?
It's pretty terrible!
Have you emailed/contacted Sony direct, Phil?
I kept wondering why dialogue is sounding boxy and bassy and it seems to be because all auto eq stops being applied as soon as it is power cycled!
