Sony rdr-dc100 hdd recorder

I have a Sony rdr-dc100 hdd recorder and recently it has started having problems with the record function. When I set something to record it will either only record some of the program or it will not record at all. I have tried a factory reset, I've tried retuning it but nothing seems to work. This has only started happening in the last week or so. Any ideas?

Did you try unplugging it from the mains to power down for a minute or two? Also try setting the clock manually just in case it gets automatically reset or something.

This is one model I'm not familiar with, however as you say the problem started recently I would perhaps suspect some of the recent changes to Freeview might be responsible.

Does the recorder work OK manually and record correctly when operated manually? If no then there are probably other issues at work.

If yes, it does work manually OK then it might be worth looking at the EPG (program guide) and scrolling up the list into the 800's numbers and seeing of you can see duplicate channels for say BBC1 (you might see BBC1... and another region against it). Such issues can cause problems with (certainly with other Sony) recorders picking the wrong program info for the timer recordings.

There  is no easy fix for this (I have had this issue with the HXD870 series) but in my case I can overcome the issue by adding an in-line attenuator into the aerial feed to the recorder. Everything hinges on how much signal you have and how weak (or strong) any unwanted channels are in relation to the wanted ones.

I agree with Mooly01.

The changes to Freeview could be the cause of this since the changes to it seems to align with the time-frame you mentioned.
