S370 Blue Ray Player

Hi All

Got the above blue ray player. Turned it on today but screen is a red square in middle of tv screen and all menus are corrupted.

Does player needs a firm ware update and if so is it possible to download onto a dvd and do it that way or is player for the bin?

Are you sure is not the Cable?
