The DVD playback on my RDR-HXD860 stops during films. When this last happened, I removed the disc and when I reinserted it I got the message "Disc cannot be played". I disconnected the DVR and then reconnected it and the disc played again but stopped half way through a film. I bought a cleaning disc and tried it but this has not solved the problem. Do I need to get it cleaned by a service centre?

I have played two DVD's in the past week without any problem. I have concluded that the problem was due to faulty discs. It is that or magic!

Maybe it's a stupid suggestion, but you should be aware that, while recording, the player is not able to play some divx and it stops. If you were not recording or were playing standard DVD content, it doesn't apply...

tburrow,
Hi, bit late i know, but you will do well to remember most if not all Sony machines are a tad sensitive to discs that even have the slightest scratch or dirt stuck to them, they WILL freeze or stop playback, the discs really have to be looked after and any foriegn bodies removed first.
