BDV-EF200 home theatre system. Sound inexplicably goes.

I have recently purchased a sony BDV-EF200 home theatre system. It is connected to a cable destop box (Virgin media TiVo) i.e HDMI from Sony to TiVo, HDMI out of Sony to Panasonic TV, digital optical cable from Sony to TiVo. Everything is fine except the sound will inexplicably go off. Sometimes as I'm watching a program without me doing anything and sometimes after I've fast forwarded/rewound or simply even changing a channel. Any suggestions please?

I had the same problem and found that my HDMI input was set to TV even though I have optical cable.  Disabling this appears to have solved the issue

Thanks for that input Stripey.  I eventually got round the problem by changing the audio settings on my TiVo box from Digital to Digital PCM.
