PRS-650 - the charging is enough only for a week ???

I bought the ebook PRS-650 half a year ago and still can not get a real answer about the time of work of rhe accumulator from our russian services. Please help me in getting the truthful information.

I take a full-charges ebook and read every day for about 2 hours a day, and the battery becomes empty in 7 days. Is it ok?

When the ebook is full-charged I can leave it switched of on 2 weeks, for example, and when in two weeks I start reading it, the battery becomes empty in maximum 2 days, is it ok?

Everybody gives me different information, and I can't understand is the work of my ebook PRS-650 correct or not.

Thank you for your comments.

I can't say that I always use the same way of charging, but now I'll try to charge using only the wall charger. But I always do it at night, so that the time if charging is not less then 6-7 hours. And when I stop reading it, I usually close it and in some time it falls in a sleep condition. So I will take all your advices.

Sehuxle, how long do you read than your book up to a full discharge?

I'm sorry, my English can be not very good, I'm russian. And in Moscow we have no warranty on Sony ebooks at all - that is not good, but I wanted to buy it, because I know that Sony - is simply Sony:) And that is why nobody here can tell me axactlly about this problem. When I wanted to buy it the managers told, that I will read it more then a month and now they tell me that a week is ok...

I too have the PRS 650, the battery will last much longer than 7 days.

How are you charging it?

How long do you leave it to charge?

When you are not reading do you turn it off or leave it in standby?

sehuxle raises the right questions !

It sounds you may have a dud battery, but........

Don't charge overnight via PC, it may drain the battery. Get a wall charger and use that , the charge is far better - and leave charging overnight, you cannot "overcharge" it. Don't charge until its down to 1 bar, 2 at most.

Only switch off completely if it is not going to be used for at least 3-4 weeks, simply put it in sleep mode ie standby.

If this doen't improve it try a soft reset, if that doesn't, the battery is almost certainly dud and you need it replacing - Sony do this - I don't know the Warranty situation where you are.

My 650 is OK for at least 3 weeeks with the useage you have - the above routine should improve the performance of the battery.

My reader lasts for 4 or 5 weeks before it needs to be charged again.

So get a USB wall charger. Ones supplied with some mobile phones are very good. I use one supplied by HTC.

Do NOT let the reader fully discharge, when it gets to one bar charge it again. Leave it overnight to charge.

When not using the reader, turn it off completely. Leaving it in standby does use the battery

If you still only have 1 week of use then there is something wrong with the battery.
