I offer a reader to a friend I also bought a few books , I didn't want to offer an empty reader. The problem is that he tried in vain to connect his reader to his computer. It works on mine but not on his computer. My understanding was that a reader could be connected to a few computer not just one. If I reformat it I loose the book for which I have paid; Any solution.
another but similar question: how to lend an eBook like we lend a paper book?
Mmmmm...... well, first, the reader has to be authorised to the new computer, as you did originally - I'm not sure youn can use it on several computers, unless you use Calibre rather than Reader, then you can, as no authorisation is needed, it is just accepted. Google Calibre to learn about it.
As to the lending situation, in a word, no - you can't !
If they're paid for books then they'll be DRM restricted and will therefore be linked to your Adobe ID. So for it to work as you describe he will need to authorise his computer with your Adobe ID.
As for losing your books, surely you have copies of them on your computer
And as for lending, you can't lend ebooks as such to someone else. However if you have 2 readers authorised to the same Adobe ID you can share books.
