Bought an ebook reader while living in the Uk and was able to purchase and download contemporary books from WH Smith, Waterstones etc. Now on secondment to Belgium and these websites do not sell to users outside of the UK (tax, copyright reasons). Ebook sites in Belgium are naturally in French or Flemmish rather than English. Unable to get use of ereader.
Hi, I am not sure where you could buy UK books outside of the UK, new restrictions have been placed on the UK retailers. I can only advise places like http://books.google.com/
Many publishers have entered into contractual agreements with book retailers only permitting them to sell their books withing certain geographical areas. I live in France, my first language is English. I have fallen foul of these agreements and have taken the matter up with my Euro MP's alleging such contracts are a restriction on the free movement of goods throughout the EU. I have had sympathetic responses. However, I hold out little hope of rapid change as the contracts are currently being upheld.
The problem is not peculiar to Europe as I have found USA retailers who will not supply me.
The only solution is to shop around the many book suppliers until you find one who will supply you. I use retailers in Australia, Canada, USA and the UK.
