I live in the Netherlands and I own since a day or two the Sony PRS-T1.
Currently I'm looking for the ebook 'The essential Rumi' by Coleman Barks (2004), this ebook
is available at the sony ebook store in the US. Am I able to purchase this?

Dunno - but if not try Inlmesh, a search engine that'll give you a list of places you can get any given book, prices, etc... There are others, but that's the one I use most.

And have you tried Smashwords ? Another excellent source.
