Hello, its my first to post a topic so. I have my phone for over two years now. Then two months ago, the battery of the e4 keeps failing. For example, the battery is 15% so I turned it off so thta no background processes will disturb the charging thus faster charging. When I check my phone to see how many percent had gain like 30%, I turned on the phone then suddenly the charge was in 100%. And so does the opposite, from 100% to 56% it crashed and turned off then it showed me a warning sign to tell me that the charge was in O%. I have no background processes and wifi turned on left in my phone because I'm too insecure about my battery life. this keeps happening until now. Then I'm thinking about replacing the battery. Any help? Its not a bug, but as I observed in most smartphones, when the phone is old, so does the battery, the battery is having a crazy situation like it was playing by itself, therefore it affects the charge left in the battery.
Hi @stuffyredpanda, welcome to our forum and I'm sorry to hear about this.
Based on the great information you have provided, it does sound like this is something that could be related to the battery in your phone since it does not seem to display the correct battery percentage at all.
However, there is a few things that you can try!
To start with, I would recommend that you recalibrate the battery in your phone. To do that, use the phone so it has very little battery left and remove the back cover of the phone and turn it off with the OFF button by using the tip of a pen or a similar object.
Charge the phone to 100% while it's powered off and then use it as you would normally do and see if there has been any change.
Let me know how it goes!
I think I did that method but I didn't notice it. You see, recalibration resets battery info from the phone itself but I think my phone disagrees with that. But I'd like to try it one more time. It crashes more often, "glitch charging" all the time (thats the term I called for very quick charge), and rapid discharge.
Hi again @stuffyredpanda, sorry for the late reply.
Was there any change when you tried to recalibrate the battery again? If there has been no change, I recommend that you try and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will delete all data stored on the internal storage of the device and reinstall the latest available software.
Since data is being deleted, creating a backup using Xperia Companion is advised.
Try using the phone for a while after the software repair has been completed and if you still experience the same behaviour, please get in touch with your Local support team so they can arrange a repair for you.
Feel free to keep me posted!
I have the same problem
Hi @Abear, sorry to hear about this and I apologize for the late reply.
Have you tried any of the troubleshooting that I have posted in this thread? If you have, how did it go?
Keep me posted!
