USB OTG for Xperia E5

Hello,

Just bought an external USB DAC to my phone. Android is supported, the only thing needed is an On-The-Go cable. In theory at least. Does Xperia E5 support OTG?

I know the DAC works on Z5, and topics there talks about Settings-Devices-USB, but the only option there is to install application for Xperia on my computer. On Z5 there is a setting like "Detect USB device" aso, but not for me.

Well according to the white paper http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers/Xperia_E5_WP_1.pdf

OTG is not listed as a connectivity option

Hi @Johan85,

As @nolramlb wrote, Xperia E5 does not support the OTG or USB Host features.

This was a surprise indeed! USB functionality, I was sure, was standard on all phones. But USB on E5 is working with my Mac. Can I hope for a software and/or firmware update for my E5 to also support OTG/USB host soon?

It is really up to sony devs to enable this officially, you can pitch in your request for this feature by emailing them: Local support

That is if it is not based on hardware specs.

The device has USB support for several features, you can find them in the whitepaper on page 7.

Hi Everyone, as mentioned above - I am sorry to say that there is no official support for the OTG technology. Slightly_frowning_Face I do not know why such a decision was made during the development process, but I'll make sure to forward your feedback regarding this.
