SIM network unlock code

I have a sony experia (not sure of exact model) model number is D2005. I have put a new sim in which is on virgin network but it keeps asking for the sim network unlock code. I have contacted virgin about it but its the handset not the sim. Help anyone??

The model D2005 corresponds to the Xperia E1 and it seems that your phone may be network locked, you need to contact your old network to unlock your device or supply you with the unlock code.
