I have an Xperia E4g when i select a picture Gif from my album and try to share via whatsapp or MMS it changes it from a Gif to a jpg. I have sent Gifs by MMS successfully using my other Xperia SP so can't see why this E4g can't, any ideas??

if you send them as MMS then your network could reduce it's size creating a problem.
Whatsapp doesn't support GIFs you will have to turn it into a video

I've been with giffgaff network for 3yrs now and approx 4mobiles without a problem sending gifs.. I've tried selecting video to send on WhatsApp but it won't select any gifs, it says summat about not having owners permission, I've sent videos by MMS in the past can't see why it won't do it now. I've even sent Gifs using this very same fone n network but somethings changed without notifying me or I've just not noticed. I think at end of the day if i can't send a Lil animated icon without spending hours trying n re-learning n searching forums then phone manufacturers and all the connected companies that supply parts n software etc are going backwards with development..i should be able to pick anything on my phone that's pic /vid related and send it across the globe wiv one press of one button. Who are these people behind technology today? I wouldn't pay em a single penny all technology is a load of crap. Nothing does wot it claims it can do, NOTHING!!

I understand your frustration, let me test Google Messenger, I think that might do it.
