I've bought an E5 because work I do necessitates Android OS to get two specific apps. Let me say, however, that I loath Android, my only previous Android phone (a Samsung) went in the bin within weeks, and I am a total Windows Phone devotee ... but that doesn't support the apps. I'm also 66, don't txtspk, use grammatically correct UK English and I'm pedantic. On the plus side I'm computer literate, (well a of a lot more than most people of my age).
Introduction over! Please treat me gently. I'm reaching the end of my tether with this phone too, and I've only had it five weeks.
I need to do a few very specific things please ... and nothing else.
That's it, nothing else ... zilch, rien, nada!
Help please.
And yes it is a third party app.
you can set different notifications or ringtones to each individual app, just follow the steps on the facebook app.
Thank you. I'll give that a try. I appreciate your input, thank you.
I can't find Facebook on my phone ... or Messenger ... or Microsoft Store. The app search facility only appears to allow me to access apps that the phone wants to push in front of me.
This my phone, I pay for it and I want it to do what I tell it to do, not the other way round.
This is why I dislike Android so much. I have no interest in games, (and frankly 99.9% of the other cr*p it's trying to get me to download).
How do I get Facebook please (which I am happy to put on the phone), without selling my soul to the Devil which is Sony / Google / Android please?
There is NO way you will find a microsoft store with an android, as far as the phone installing apps that you don't want that's unlikely, probably you haven't turned off auto update apps, which is standard in all Androids, that's not up to Sony but Google.
Open the PlayStore app > swipe left to right > settings > uncheck auto update
So again, preloaded apps with any Android will be Google services/apps and then each company add their own apps, you should know that Sony has less bloatware than other brands.
To download facebook or any app:
Open the playstore > type the name of the app > install
