Unable to download from RX100M2 to computer via Play Memories Home

I bought this camera in December and duly downloaded the PlayMemoriesHome software to my PC and laptop. Both machines are running Windows 10 and IE11. When I go to try to download pictures on either computer I get a message " Drive E: There is a problem with this drive. Scan the drive to fix the problem". After that the 50 or so pictures appear on the screen as thumbnails  over a period of about three quarters of an hour but they don't actually get downloaded to the computer. I have tried with both an SD card which I already had (reformatted, previously used on a Canon camera) and then a brand new one (SanDisk) which I bought as I thought the old one was faulty. As this problem exists on two separate computers I assume that the problem is either the software or the camera?? It clearly isn't my computers.
