I recently brought a Sony handycam which I love for shooting videos. I usually edit my videos using windows movie maker. But it is not letting me edit them because the video files do not have the correct codec, do I will have to use a different editing software. I could convert the file to a different format on sony's PMB, but that makes the videos quite poor quality. So I want to get another editing software but in order to do that I need to see what video format my videos are so that I know the editing software will let me edit them. How do I find out what video format my videos are on sony's PMB? Thanks.
Hi according to my account the video was saved in MPEG-2 hope this helps.
To answer this question I will need the exact model of your camcorder.

With latest SW update for PMB you can edit video fails 5.5.2...see support page. Otherweis you could use other editing programs, of course.
