Hey!
I just bought a shotgun Microphone for my Sony HDR-250E and I can´t get it to work with the sound recorded correctly.
On the support page it states:
"
Please check the “Audio Mode” setting within the “Microphone” setup menu of the camera. The setting should be on “2ch stereo”, not on “5.1ch surround”.
Refer to page 69 of the English instruction manual. Those camera models only support Dolby Digital 2ch sound recording."
I have the correct model but I can´t find that option in the setup Menu. I enter the Camera/Mic tab but cant find any "Audio Mode" setting to setup the 2ch stereo setting. How come?
Have I totally missed something here?
EDIT: Checked the manual and there is really no Audio Mode button to press under the microphone tab. What is this about?
Best regards,

Hello Teodice - Welcome to the Sony Forums
I have had a look at the manual for the HDR-XR260E - is this your model of camera?
The option to adjust the audio mode should be located by going into the 'Camera/Mic' menu and then pressing the 'Microphone' button - are you saying that you cannot see this button or that it is completely greyed out. If this is the case, do you find that the menu option is available when the shotgun microphone is not attached to the camera?
Also, just in case something has happened to the camera setup this is preventing the options from being displayed correctly, have you tried resetting the whole device by putting a small object (such as an uncurled paperclip) into the 'RESET' hole?
Thanks,
Simon

My camera model is HDR-CX250E. I took a closer look in the manual and now see that I wont be able to record in the desired mode. I feel a bit scammed tbh... Why do Sony create a camera, make available for 3.5mm Microphones and just make it record in 1 channel?
What a waste of money... Thanks for ripping me off for 330 Euros...
This Camera is pretty useless for me now.
