Hello !
Can i make a live stream over the internet , with the handycam Sony HCX 260 VE ?
I want to stream a live church event, and I want to know how do I connect my camcorder to a laptop or computer,to get live video and audio signal, and then to stream over the internet !
Any suggestion ?
Hi jusify, I've checked the manual and the specifications of the 260VE and there's no mention of USB streaming: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/HDR-CX260VE/specifications
Not all handycams permit video streaming. If the software which came with the camera doesn't include a driver for USB streaming, then it won't be possible: http://www.sony-asia.com/support/faq/57326

I have a similar problem with sony HXR-MC50 ..My Sony Vagas software will not see the camera
Hi, welcome to the Sony Forums
Most modern consumer cameras are not configured for 'digital pass through' via USB. This basically means the camera can replay recordings over USB but not record while it's doing so. Cameras with HDMI outputs (as well as inputs) are often capable of this, but they're often much higher-specced in general.
You may be able to use a video capture device and software such as Procaster to manage the feed, but I confess I'm not clear which models are capable of live streaming within that workflow.
Maybe worth pointing out that a good many older digital camcorders were capable of streaming, usually over firewire, but the recent switch to USB seems to have ruled that feature out for most.
Cheers
Mick
