How can you get a mac to see sony camcorder DCR-HC54E

Hi, I can't gt my mac to see my sony camcorder DCR-HC54E - any suggestions?  Many thanks I'd really appreciate assistance as it is quite frustrating.  It used to just see my old one when I connect the two together..:smileyhappy:

Hi, welcome to the Sony Forums

Are you using iMovie? The camera should appear in the iMovie main window (as a generic 'camera' icon) whenever it's connected. Just click that icon and away you go. Make sure you're using Firewire (i.Link) to make the connection and not USB.

If you're already doing this it could be a cable issue, or a shorted-out jack or port
